Setting: First floor, east wing - hallway
Time: Night 008
Summary: Emil arrives and his welcome party is not a friendly one.
Warnings: Monster attack, a tiny bit of language.
He'd stopped in the lobby on the way to meet Lloyd to take care of his monsters; Marta must have entrusted them to the Katz there while Emil had been unconscious. They'd worked hard the previous night, and tending to them had given Emil an ounce of normality in what felt like a dream after the previous night. He knew these monsters well--he'd been raising the ones he fought with most for well over a month now--so some things, at least, hadn't changed. And now he was somewhere...new, and while the two monsters he'd been tending to were with him there didn't seem to be anyone else around.
"Marta?" he called nervously. "Tenebrae? Presea? Lloyd? Anybody?" There was no answer around him, which only made him feel more nervous. Where had everybody gone?
(I didn't go into Ratatosk Mode again, did I?) He shook his head at that thought. It didn't match up with his previous experiences. Emil would have seen it if there was danger of some kind, even if he hadn't really been remembering what he did afterward lately. On the other hand, that meant he'd stepped from the lobby into this place, and that couldn't be right either! What was going on here?
He led his two companions a little further in, and as they entered a large room not far from the entrance Mattias, his Ravenous, chittered to draw Emil's attention. He glanced around to see a faint glowing at the other end of the room, and as Emil approached the chittering grew louder. Emil froze and saw that there was something moving there. Make that a lot of somethings, and coming his way.
(...I've never seen anything like that before.)
He backed up slowly, hoping that they'd just go away if he left them alone too. No such luck. They were advancing, and--
(Where is everybody?)
Mattias walked forward, brandishing his staff, and started casting an attack spell.
(I have to fight!)
Emil took the cue and quickly drew his sword. "First things first," he muttered to himself. "Let's take these things down, and then figure out where the hell we are. We don't have time to waste hanging around here!"
The things they were up against were weak compared to some of the things he'd fought before, but their numbers made them annoying. It took longer than he would have liked to fight them off, but once the things were down for the time being he gave control back to the other Emil. It wasn't as if either of them wanted to stick around here for any longer than they had too--and if all else failed, he'd be keeping an eye on things to intervene if his other self threatened to screw things up.
Realizing that the monsters were gone, Emil breathed a sigh of relief and went on through the house to search for anybody else who might be around to explain why he was here.
