Behind you~ [Complete]

Characters: Fiona Belli, Courtney Crumrin
Setting: Copper Bathroom
Time: Night
Summary: Fiona looks in the mirror.
Warnings: None.

She'd dunked in here because she'd felt as though she might throw up, but that didn't seem to be a problem anymore. The feeling of nausea had gone rather suddenly and that puzzled her. No explanation came from racking her brain, but the heiress supposed she shouldn’t complain. Instead, she decided to make the best of the situation.

"I hope this water’s safe to drink..." she said to herself softly, but without hesitation turned the faucet on, catching some of the water in her cupped hands and drinking it. She supposed it wasn’t the most refined thing, but it was refreshing, as well as more practical than walking back to the kitchen.

--Hm? She thought she’d saw something in the mirror behind her...

Concluding it to be her imagination, she turned the faucet off, already she feeling better, more energetic than she had before.

--But there it was again! A flash of something as she glanced up.

Telling herself this didn’t help. Pure, unbridled curiosity got the best of her as she placed her hands on the edge of the sink, one heel lifting off the ground as she leaned forward and looked up, eyes narrowing a bit.

Yes, there was something there, it hadn't been her imagination! It looked to be a man, but she couldn't make out his face, or much of anything else, other than that he should have towered over her. The thought of turning around never crossed her mind as she tried to distinguish the man in the mirror. Suddenly it dawned upon her that he was carrying and raising a weapon. Yet still she felt inclined to watch, more out of fascination than fear.

It wasn't until the faceless man looked ready to bring his weapon down that things hit her like a ton of bricks. There was a strange man behind her, with a knife! Fiona let out a gasp as she spun around, one hand still holding onto the sink and the other joining it once her turn was complete, instinctively pushing back up against it as her pursuer...

...was gone from the open doorway or at least she supposed that's where he would have been standing. Or perhaps he'd never been there, she thought as she let out a small laugh. Nobody was there, nobody at all.

Somehow, that knowledge wasn't as comforting as it should have been.
